700R4 in place of 4L60E

In a 1995 Camaro Z28, the trans is a 4L60E. It has problems with the OBD1 high stall no 1-2 shift, and it is totally electronic. From what I can gather, replacing it with a turbo 700R4 would still give you the overdrive, and low first gear and, the opportunity to put in a manual valvebody. Would this get rid of the no 1-2 shift problem?

Re: 700R4 in place of 4L60E

a 700R4 is more or less identical to a 4L60E with the exception of the electronic control....you don't really need to replace the transmission...just convert the tranny to either full manual valvebody (somebody makes a kit for these now) or vacuum modulation (which would really just make your existing tranny into a 700R4)...
