Re: 700r4 high rpm when shiftting into 3 gear

The common culprit in the 700 is second gear for slipping as I found out when I installed my stroker a few years back.... However, depending on the age and use of the tranny, a simple rebuild with higher quality bands may be in order. The 700 is not a very robust platform as I have blown up three of them but they are efficient and the better quality rebuild part you use the longer they will last.

I absolutely recommend a blanket or shield and a good cooler. One of the times that mine blew it put a 14 inch long gash through the floorpan two inches wide and installed a spike of case through my leg. I cannot stress enough the importance of a blanket or shield, and I just have a street class vehicle....

Digital Designs do you really think low fluid would case it to slip just in 3rd gear

It sounds like you might have burned your 3-4 clutches, which is very common or Your T.V. Cable is not adjusted properly. Check the level and the condition of your fluid first, If the fluid has a burnt smell to it, then it is time for a rebuild. If every thing is alright then the T.V. cable needs adjustment.

Re: 700r4 high rpm when shiftting into 3 gear

If the 2-3 shift at normal throttle openings is still good (no slipping). Then the first thing to check is, the TV cable should be setup correctly. At the injector, check to see if the TV cable is "tight" at WOT, if not correct this. Second, adding a Corvette servo will help 2nd & 3rd gear at all throttle openings. Third, adding the "modified" Trans-Go Performance Shift kit can help out a lot here. If you do not want to add the Shift kit, you can add the Corvette servo, and the larger boost valve, these can do a lot towards solving your problem. Any questions, let me know?
