Question 700R4 help needed....

hey... if anyone can diagnose and tell me whats going on with my tranny, i would be extremely grateful... its getting frustrating...

heres whats basically happening...

a few weeks ago, i was out driving, and the car would shift fine and ran exactly as it should have, when i was conservative on the throttle... pretty much right after i got on the gas, and shifted through the gears manually, the tranny wouldent shift properly. on normal driving it had ORIGINALLY shifted at around 2100-2300 RPM, and after it would shift at around 3500-4000 RPM... i limped the car home, but on the way there, the problem became progressivly worse, until finally the car wouldent even engage in gear, and had to be floored to get it moving at all, if i wanted it to go anywhere.

the tranny fluid didnt look burnt at all, but smelled like it was a little hotter than it should have been. i initially thought the problem was my torque converter, since my old converter wasnt any kind of performance converter or anything.

after letting the car sit for a few weeks, i finally installed a new converter ( TCI, 2600 stall ) and the car ran fine for a night. but again, right after i went through the gears, i could feel the tranny beggining to feel like it was slipping. i stopped the car and let it sit for about 45 minutes or so, and drove it very conservativly home. the car ran exactly as it should have, shifting where it was supposed to... this morning, i took the car out again, to see if the problem was still there, and after i hit it a little in 2nd gear, the car started shifting like it did when it felt like it was getting ready to dissengage. i have since parked the car in my driveway, and plan on leaving it there till i figure out whats wrong with it...

if anyone has any ideas at all about what it could be, or how to fix it, i would really apreciate it. thanks a lot for your help.

( in case it matters; the tranny is a 700R4, with a TCI 2600 stall converter, and its in a first gen camaro )

I can not say what is happening, but the transmission will need to be taken apart, and the forward piston assembly should be examined. While in there check out everything, & you can do some performance upgrades if you desire.
