7.5 strength?
7.5 strength?
I have a 95z28 weighing 2850 W/ driver with a fully forged 355 LT1 Nitrous motor. 420rwhp motor 600+ on n2o. The transmission is a Coan Pro-Street 4l60e w/ 3500 10" converter. The car will be on MT Drag radials or 28x10.5 Et Drags. The rearend consists of a auburn pro unit, motive 3.73's, c clip eliminators on stock axles, TA Cover, welded tubes, etc. Car should 60' high 1.3x's. How long will this thing live? Or should i sell it save and get a 12bolt? What do you think?
could blow on you first pass....could hold off till your 100th pass...
there is no definate answer.
are you making more power than the rear was designed to handle....YES
therefor its just a matter of time.
i'd sell it and get a 12bolt

your cars lights but i dont think with 3.73 and a 3500 stall youll be able to get into the 1.3 range...
if you really want it to last then go back to 3.23 or 3.42 and leave on whatever you want...they are a lot less likely to break than 3.73

the axles on these rears are not the big problem, its the small surface area of the ring and pinion.
since you are lookin for some serious 60' times you should get a rearend that will withstand
those launches.

Don't put any more money into the 7.5 just wait for it to break and then get a 12 bolt or a 9in. Had one buddy buy DR's on a almost stock LS1 and blew his rear out on his second pass and others that are still running a total stock rear in the 1.5-1.7 range. I am still running my stock rear and haven't had any problems. My advice is just to not put any money into and start saving for the day it does blow.
His setup might just last longer than you think at that weight.
Ya never know though. I have seen everything already mentioned here as well. Mine is still holding up after 220+ passes down the strip, autocrossing, road racing, and plenty of spirited driving in between...
