6sp conversion wiring questions
6sp conversion wiring questions
I've been reading the install guide and I can't find the two wires that are supposed to be hooked up to the black clutch switch.
The install guide says they are brown & yellow. The clutch wires are green & purple that come out of my new clutch pedals. In another guide a guy said they were taped to the underside of his dash.
Do you know where I should look for these and then do I connect them to the purple and green wires coming out of the black clutch switch?
The install guide I'm using says that polarity doesn't matter on this connection.
Also, I only see one of the switches mentioned that were connected to my auto brake pedals. I have two switches one with two electrical plugs and one with one.
According to my Gm Manual the switch with two plugs goes in the bottom hole and the other one in the top hole.
Is there any trick to getting these adjusted right? I think they were both screwed in about three turn on my automatic pedals.
I'm trying to get this back together this weekend.
Thanks

The wires are under the console, and they are brown, and yellow. I just spliced mine together for now to get all the kinks worked out. There should also be the reverse lights and the hatch switch with the yellow and brown wires. The other switch on the brake pedal is I THINK is to tell the cruise controll to shut off when you hit the brakes. The site i when to was

Yeah, all the wires you need are under the console, all in the same cluster. Just find a cluster with the brown and yellow wires. There are also four other wires in there too, I know one is reas small and its lke black and orange or something.
thanks guys
So if I understand everything right all the wiring is under the console for the brake lights, reverse lights, hatch release and clutch switch.
I will extend the yellow and brown wires to the clutch switch
and I will extend the brown and green wires from the console to the new reverse light plug that I bought to go into the trans.
So then I don't use any of the wires that were in the big round plug that was connected to my auto trans right?
Thanks
Tom

Thanks,
Is it a bad idea not to hook up the reverse lockout?
I was planning on not doing it because the install guide I'm using mentioned taping one of the PCm plugs for it and I'm terrible with wiring.

You'll find the brown and yellow wires, as well as all the others on the connecter that used to plug into the A4 shifter. At least that is where I found them. I'm going to cut the connector off and splice into the wires there.
janny, for reverse lockout look at the 20 pin connector the male side. there should be a pink wire on the third row right under a yel\blk wire, that is your 12v fused power source, the other wire is brownit is on the top row second hole this wire comes from the pcm it is your ground. if you get your computer worked it will be like factory

are you saying the reverse lockout wires are in that large round plug?
If it is that simple I will hook it up too

I assumed he was talking about the connectors at the PCM, and thinking to myself "OK just start counting connections at the PCM plugs"
It would be pretty simple if this could be found in the round plug at the a4 tranny.
I hate wiring ****!
yes it is at the a4 tranny connector. there are two pink wires in the plug, if you look at the side that plugs into the tranny you should see what i described. the wire that i said was the power wire powers the tranny solenoids. if you look at the side that plugs in the a4 there are 4 rows of openings for the pins in the a4 connector.orient the plug with the top first row only having two wires going into the connector. on this row use the second wire from the left for the ground on your rev lockout , it comes directly from the pcm to ground the connection as determined by the pcm. this is why you must get the 6 speed program. the wire was brown on my car but mine is a 96 so the colors may have changed. i dont know of any changes in the auto trans so it should work the same. the power wire is found on the third row first wire from the left it powers all of the solenoids in the auto. so i just connected these 2 wires to the rev lockout and taped up the 20 pin connector and stuck it up out of the way of the m6. if for some reason i ever wanted to go back to auto i can re-solder the wires back onto the connector and swap out the pcm and go back to auto.
