6L80E 6spd Auto

Anyone up on the info about this tranny? Can it be used with the LS1? As far as the computer-controlled shifting goes and all? I know there are two extra gears to shift, so how could you control the 6L80E attached to an LS1?

I'm not even wondering about keeping the tap/paddleshift option, I can work on that after everything else is sorted out.

Contemplating an LS1 swap into a non-GM car...I don't have the resources to make it work right now, I'm just trying to figure out how it would work.

I did search and came up with one other thread about an LT1 6l80e swap, and no one provided any info and might as well have just flamed the guy. I expect this to be an informative thread, not just to be told to get a manual or to stick with the 4spd. I don't want the 4spd(unless of course the 6spd doesn't work ), and a manual is out of the question.

this transmission is very promising.

from what I've heard, it's going to be very strong, and can replace nearly EVERY gm transmission ever made.

my brother is planning on putting one in his 1974 Nova.. replacing his TH-400

I'd love to have this in my 2000 WS6

I was talking to some people about this tranny, and apparently the bellhousing is inter-changable. You can put the internals of the 6L80E in your old tranny bellhousing... it apparenlty fits in almost every gm housing ever made... people are going crazy because all the old muscle car people are tired of 3 gears, or 3 gears + gear vendors overdrive... which does next-to-nothing.

it's not due out to the consumer for at least two years though... if that soon even.
