6-speed hard to shift

The transmission feels a little notchey while shifting into 3rd under normal street driving. The real trouble is at the strip. I can not get the car into 3rd under full throttle. I miss the shift every time. This has happened the last 3 or 4 runs. The car has less than 40,000 miles on it but quite a few 1/4 mile runs. It also has N2O, Street Twin, 9 inch rear, etc. I need input from others who have been this route as I dont want to waste time repairing this over and over. Thanks, Ken
