5 speed to 6 speed
5 speed to 6 speed
Tried searching but couldn't find anything. What all is needed to convert from a 5 speed in '93 'maro to a 6 speed. Probably not much besides maybe a shorter driveshaft? Also what would be better both pricewise and performance an M6 or a T56. Is it even worth the swap? Keep in mind its for a car with 4.11's so maybe it would be worth it just in gas saved
.Thanks
.Thanks

Re: 5 speed to 6 speed
the only 4th gens that came with 5 speeds would be V6s. A t56 from a V8 while it may bolt up (I don't know) would not be a wise idea, as the v6 doesn't have enough torque to make 6'th gear even remotely usable.
Re: 5 speed to 6 speed
I was talking about a z28. I was under the impression that in 1993 a 6 speed was rare. I guess I assumed this meant a 6 speed was rare compared to a 5 speed when it really meant a 6 speed was rare compared to an automatic. So if thats the case that means all manuals in 1993 were 6 speeds? Thanks alot
Re: 5 speed to 6 speed
yeh I remember reading something about that in the list of differences between the 93 and other years on a forum somewhere. I think someone said the changed it halfway through the build year because people kept tearing rears up because of the gearing in first. Not sure the legitamacy (sp) in this
