4l60e vs. th350 vs. t56 swap.

Right now my the tranny in my car works fine or did untill the engine blew. And i already have a 3600 vig that i could sell with the tranny if needed. And im in the process of building a forged 355 possibly le3 that will definetly see at least a 150 shot of n2o. I want it to still be able to drive around and to and from the track...but not a daily driver. Oh and dont tell me ill need a rear end...cause im saving hehe.

Soo my question. Would a build 4l60e hold up very well or not? For now im gona see how long my current one lasts lol.

Would it be cheaper to convert over to a th350 than to keep replacing 4l60e's? Keep in mind i would have to switch to 3.42 gears to even drive it on the highway.

The t56 is very tempting since i would make the 4.10s more highway freindly, but will a stock one hold up? Not to mention clutches are expensive and it would ruin my rear end.

Sorry for being so long
Thanks
James

I would stick with the 4l60E and get it built strong. I am gonna use CPT for my build. getting your strengthened by a reputable shop should make it last. The advantage of the 4l60E is def the overdrive, and the lower 1st gear compared to the T56 and the Th350. I will be running 4:11's with my LE2 heads, BRE cam, and nitrous. Heck a A4 in overdrive with 4:11's-4.56's still cruises at lower RPM's than a TH350 with 3.42's on the highway. Plus you already have a good converter, so it may be more cost effective to have what ya got built. Last, your rear has a much better shot at longevity behind an auto, rather than the 6 speed.

Ya ive been reading around and i think ill have cpt build mine when it starts to slip. Maybe ill just hold off on the n2o untill then though.

Thanks

Re: 4l60e vs. th350 vs. t56 swap.

I contemplated this a year ago as well. But I was going through the high stall no shift problem. At the time people were still trying to find a fix for this problem and I wasnt about to wait or pay for the expensive fix with it. SO it was either go obd2 or t56. I guess I'll let my sig tell you which way I went. So far it has to be one fo the best mods Ive done to this car. ANd plus the gas mileage is great to and no more getting beat at a roll.

I have had good luck with pro-built automatics, and FLP.

I just had to have a manual instead.....

I'd definitely recommend a CPT built 4L60E. Very happy with mine.

if you ever drive that car any faster than 60mph and youre going to be running higher than a 3.42 rear end stear clear of the th350, i learned the hard way with my 3.73's.

Ya my sisters chevelle has a th350 and 3.23s(i think) and it is just like my 4.10s on the highway.

I think you guys have convinced my to get the build 4l60e. I would like the manual but i dont have enough for it and a 9in at the time. And since i dont really drive the car that often and autos are better for dragracing.

Thanks
James
