4l60e swap time
Re: 4l60e swap time
I don't know what the book time is. But I just changed mine out in about 10 hours. That included raising the car onto stands/ramps twice as the first time was not high enough. Just my son and myself with mostly hand tools (some air tools for the bigger stuff). That also includes cleaning-up the 5 or so quarts of really nasty burnt trannt fluid and other mess in the garage.

Don't know what the book says,
But I didn't do it all in one day, I took the tranny out, shipped it off to be rebuilt, then put it back in.
Following Javier's writeup for the converter, but getting the car about 8" higher to actually get the tranny out, it took me about 4 hours to remove it. Includes getting it in the air, using all hand tools, and making my own tranny attachment for my floor jack.
Install took just less then 2.5 hours and that included getting it back down and topping off the tranny.
BTW, did I mention this was in my carport in the late fall (very cold)...
That being said if you have everything ready and just need to pop one out and put another in. I say for the first timer 6-7 hours, less if you have air tools, tranny jack, or a lift. And I say about 3 hours total if you have all 3...
