4L60E special tools

Disclaimer: before you tell me to send my transmission to a professional please be advised that this is a spare transmission I have sitting on the floor and I am interested in doing this to learn!

So I just watched the how to rebuild a 4l60e dvd and now that I am an expert I have some questions for the real experts First, I only have one spare trans to play with and really don't plan on making this a habit, So can one get away without a clutch spring compressor and the two shaft seal tools? Would a large hose clamp accomplish the same thing as a pump housing alignment tool? Also do any of the sponsors offer a kit containing all the parts required (minus hard parts that might be broken of course)?

In my opinion you definitely need those things. I am in the middle of one right now and would buy them again. Another big helper is the holding fixture, it will set you back a couple bills, but it is slick.

For Trans parts go to http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/me...de=4L60E-4L65E

Don't expect to get off cheaper by doing it yourself.

Hope this helps.
