4L60e Rebuild - How Many Quarts?

According to the shop manual, the fluid capacity after a rebuild is about 11.2 quarts (with a stock converter). How many should I start with? Someone had told me to start with 6 and check/fill it right away after starting, but that seemed low.

Dry trans-- I usually put 1~2 quarts in the converter and 8~9 in the trans.. It easier to add to, then take away...

If its just a pan drop, then 5 quarts..
