Is the 4L60E really worth it?
Is the 4L60E really worth it?
I have a 1999 camaro z28 and I just had the 4L60e rebuilt with some stronger internals. I probably put 2500 miles on it then 3rd and 4th clutches went bad. So should I get another 4l60e or a turbo 350. Or if anyone knows another trans that will fit can you let me know. Preferably a 4 speed auto but anything else is fine.

Going to move this to another forum..... "New Member Intro..." isn't the best place to find tech help.
A well-built 4L60E can run 9-second passes. What kind of power are you making? Sounds like a faulty rebuild.

A 3-speed auto will drive you crazy on the freeway. I run a TH400, and had to add a Gear Vendors O/D to make it decent at 70 MPH.

Re: Is the 4L60E really worth it?
The 4l60E can hold some serious power we have some north of 1000rwp now, However its not just about parts its about hydraulics and making sure all things work together well, No room for close enough or boxed shift kits,

Just an update on my recommendation on CPT (Cahall). Frank Cahall, the owner, passed away unexpectedly, about two weeks ago. His wife Gail will continue to operate the transmission business. Gail also runs American Powerhouse, a source for performance parts.
CPT and American Powerhouse Sponsorship, and more importantly, Frank Cahall
