Ok in a bit of a jam I am just about to pull the transmission from a 95 Firebird .. my buddy got a great deal on a tranny from a 94 .

yesss I understand the 94 transmission does not have the extra lock up solenoid for the torque converter..

The question is can I remove valvebody and front pump and swap it onto the 94 transmission ... if so any tricks or anything I should watch out for or is this straight swap?


If not please explain why and if there is a work around (I have read many posts about how they are different but no one has have talked about switching the valvebody or pump etc) please give details and pictures if you have it (plus I think this would be a great sticky)

I spent the better part of the afternoon with many shops and asked the same questions and get different answers most say they are basically the same from 93-97 internally and I could just switch the valve body and pump and I should be ok (this is from monster transmission) then there are some that say no way everything is different and send it to them and they can rebuild it (lol so I am not sure if they are blowing smoke and just want the job ) ..
