Angry 4L60E Prolblems

I have a 95 Z28 w/ an A4. The other day, while I was driving, the transmission wouldn’t shift into 3rd gear. I did some more driving tests that same day and this is what I found. When the shifter was in over-dive the transmission wouldn’t shift into second, I would have to start in 1st and manually shift to 2nd. I checked the transmission fluid and there was a mixture of reddish and black which I believe something was burnt. I’m 23 and know a lot about cars, but when comes to new problems I like to ask around before I start taking my transmission apart. Any help on diagnosing the problem with my transmission would be appreciated.

did 2nd slip at all? i bet your band is burned up probly some of the other plates too... i just took my 94 4l60e apart and the band had almost no lining on it, and was right down to metal in some spots, it screwed up the reverse input housing where the band latches onto because it kinda dished it and stuff but your going to have to take it out, which isnt really bad if you have an assistant and a tranny jack... but taking it apart is very easy, one bit of advice when you take all your bolts for your oil pump off it will still be like stuck in the bore in the case, so get your bolts out, then take a screwdriver and there is a little area by the valve body you can pry the back of the oil pump to kinda free it, just free it up, then grab the front of it and slide it out, hope this helps, let us know how it goes.

The 2-4 band sounds ok, it is the 3-4 clutch setup that is most likley gone (common).
