4l60e limp home mode?

Just bought a 1994 z28 and the trans is in limp home mode (3rd gear only, manual 2nd and no torque converter lockup). The car only has 104xxx miles and the trans feels strong I'm thinking the problem is electrical. Visually everything appears good no bad fuses, burnt wires or bad connectors. Has anyone else ever had this problem and what did u find. Any input would be great thanks

Um u might not believe this, but after lots of headaches, I offer this. Get the car scanned. If this situation is similar to mine, one of 2 things will happen. One u will find a 3-2 shift solenoid code, or like mine, your pcm will communicate for a few moments and then go nuts. After you scan the car so.u have the stored codes, disconnect the battery for about a minute, positive and negative. Touch the terminals together for a few momments and reconnect the battery. Start the car and take it for a drive. If it is the pcm, you will get a.first gear start and all 4 gears, until u stop. Then u will go back into default mode. Seems to be a problem that's popping up with 94's as of late. If that does nothing, refer to the codes. Could be anything from a pinched wire in the trans pan, low battery voltage and or alternator amprage. Tps, iac, iat, lots.of things. Good news is those are easy to check after you've been through this before lol. Hope this helps

+1 on previous post, VSS error, low loltage, open circuit to solenoids, etc can cause it. Most DTC's for tranny do not light the SES indicator and you need to get it scanned. That's not an easy task for a '94 you are OBD1 but the '94-95 F-Body's have flash memory PCM's so they are unique. If you take it to a local parts store and they throw an older style OBD1 tool on there the fans will start up, SES light will light up and they will tell you the computer is not communicating...

I recently bought this car I went and bought a obd1 scan tool. No communication with PCM. I'm gonna check my wiring to the dlc today but I found a list of codes the last owner was able to get. 58 trans temp to high, 85 tcc stuck on, 79 trans temp to hot, 81 shift solenoid b circuit fault, 32 egr problem, 55 fuel system lean, 44 left o2 lean, 64 right o2 lean. Im starting to think I should just try a new PCM for $75 and see what happens because I have now noticed I have no cooling fans, no abs, and no fuel light. I tried resetting the computer but it didn't seem to change anything.
