4L60E going, what to replace it with??

OK, now I'm sure there have been many posts similar, but I searched and didn't find much on what I am looking for.

So, my tranny is slipping (knew it was coming for a while) and my rear end is going too, so I figure I replace both and build while I'm at it. I'm going with a Moser 9" (true-trac, 3.73, etc.) most likely, so you can see I am building to take a beating, so I dont have to worry about it in the future.

My question about trannies are:
What would be my strongest option around $2K? (whether a 4L or other)
What else should I get? (driveline related?)
Where should I get this?
What would be a good stall?

A little background on my car and me is, I want it to be good for around 500+ RWHP (later) and a daily driver, show, autox, and strip (in that order). I am in HS and have a semi full time job and am looking at a budget around $6K or so (inc. tranny, rear end, wilwood brakes, & install ~$1,600 I dont have the time to do it myself). I also plan on keeping this car for a very long time (always hear people saying, "wish I kept my first car." I dont wanna be one of those people )
BTW, my current mods inc. full suspension, intake, exhaust and headers will be in soon.
Thanks!

www.cahallperformancetransmissions.com - Pro Race 4L60E will take anything you'll throw at it. I've had mine in for awhile and love it, and Frank is a great guy to do business with.

Might want to consider upgrading your flexplate+bolts while the transmission is out, and if you plan on making good power in the future and hooking, a driveshaft upgrade should be in store. Then again, I went 11.6 on a 1.5 60' with the stock driveshaft...not the safest thing, but I do have a safety loop (another thing you should get).

Thanks. What rebuild did you get? Where are they located? How much was your total? How long was the turn around? This is one thing I am concerned about because its my daily driver for now. I know some have core charges instead and just send you a rebuilt one and you send yours and get $ back. (at least that is how I understand it) Also I have KBDD SFC, so I cant get a safety loop (I dont think). I'll look into driveshafts too, but for now I think I'll keep stock due to my price limit.
Also, how much should I expect to pay for flexplate+bolts & where should I get those?
Thanks again.

Re: 4L60E going, what to replace it with??

My flexplate was a little over $100, but I think Frank knows of one that's just as strong and about $40 cheaper. I used stock replacement bolts from GM.

I got the Race rebuild with the 4L65E front internal support and upgraded steel piston, because at the time the Pro Race rebuild was not offered. The tranny has been in since September, and has around 6k hard miles on it without a hiccup.

Frank's located in MD...turnaround time wasn't bad, but some hard parts had to be ordered. Trust me, it's worth shipping the trans to Frank and waiting a little bit / paying for shipping instead of getting a crappy rebuild that will last a week. Frank really knows his stuff and he's the only guy I'd trust with a 4L60E.

He may have cores in stock, but I can't say. Try calling him...# is on his website.
