4L60E converter and coast problems

i've got 2 separate symptoms.
{1} the converter clutch is not engaging. i've been running a program that enables the TCC lock-up at WOT in 3rd and 4th gear after the shift and i beleive i've fried the converter clutch. with my scanner hooked up, i see that the PCM is telling the converter to lock at the correct times during part throttle acceleration but i don't feel it locking like i used to. i'm about to head to the shop and run the car up to speed on the lift and use my DVOM to see if the voltage is getting to the tranny through the harness. i suspect it is but i'll update the info after the test. i'm going to pull the pan also to see if there are any particles in there.
BTW, filter was changed less than 4k miles ago and the filter/pan was clean and fluid did not smell burnt.
is there a way i can test to see if the solenoid is engaging?
could this be a valve body problem?

{2} when i let off the accelerator pedal in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears, the RPM's drop as if the tranny was in neutral but in 4th gear it holds the RPM up within the range of the converter stall.
what is causing this?
i imagine i may to have to go into the tranny but if so, other than replacing clutches, seals, steels ect. i need to know what else to replace.

i'm expecting to probably find that the converter clutch is fried and if so, what is a good converter, possibly 2 or 3 clutch to replace it with?

You will have to tell the computer not to lockup the TC at WOT. As for letting off the gas & deaccelerating not happening, it is the overrun clutch assembly, (sprag, overrun hub, overrun clutch, etc.), that is the problem.

Re: 4L60E converter and coast problems

Thanks! i'll get parts as soon as i get the $ together. i hit a DOG yesterday on the way to the shop and trashed my front bumper cover so that will probably eat $500 or so fixing it.
i did make it to the shop and pulled the pan and there were no particles in the bottom but the fluid smells burnt. hopefully i'll get a chance to pull it apart in a couple of weeks.
i reflashed the PCM last night with a program that does not lock the converter 'ever' to run until i fix the tranny. i need to drive it to and from work till then since i can't afford gas for my 4wd truck.
got any suggestions on the best place to order parts from?
also i may need to order a 4L60E rebuild manual/video since i've only built non-electronic tranny's {th 350/400, 727, C6}. this valve body looks like a headache.
thanks,
Mike

If you want a video, then Technical video is the one to use. For rebuild books, use ATSG rebuild books. Asd for parts, go to http://www.700r4l60e.com/store/custo...&cat=22&page=1 this should give you what you need. Give me a call, if I can be of help?

looks like you have just what i need.
1 question. the website list:
Precision Industries Vigilante 9.5" lockup torque converter,
"The multi-disk (5 clutch) is available for those who wish to make a full-throttle lockup."

is the 5 clutch option an additional charge? i don't see any listed HERE
