4CH rear into 3CH car???

My car is a 94 Z28 with 2.73 rear and 3ch ABS. I'm looking at buying a complete rear with 4.10 but it is set up for 4ch ABS/TCS. Is there any way i can get the abs ring in there without altering the setup on the gears? I'm pretty sure id have to remove the ring gear and carrier but would it go back in at same backlash/depth? Will a 4ch carrier even accept the abs ring? Also whats the cheapest way to reset the speedo calibration, I might just live with it until i get tuning, but I think it will be off quite a bit jumping from 2.73 to 4.10.

No you can't put it in without setting up the gears again. Whats yoru plan for the ABS sensor itself?

I was going to use the sensor/ring out of my old rear, it is off a 2 series carrier tho, dunno if thats a problem. I also dunno if the new housing has a hole for the sensor. Sounds like I'll just have to swap the new gears/posi into my car.

I'm relatively certain the 3 series gears do require a '3 series' reluctor ring.

No it won't. A couple years ago i swapped a 4ch rear into my 94 and i drilled out the housing for the sensor while it was out of the car incase i ever decided i wanted to add the reluctor and restore ABS. I never got around to installing the reluctor though to see if i had the sensor lined up well enough. It was a PITA finding the right size bits (you'll needa 1/2" chuck drill) and cleaning out the housing afterwards is not fun either.

good luck,

Brent
