FWIW, my stock clutch puts 325rwhp through street tires with no trouble at all. Note that in '01 and 02, they used the C5 Z06 clutch on M6 F-bodies.

Spec stage 3. Relatively inexpensive and it'll hold 400 hp no problems.

clutchnet.com.... clutch net 6 puck ex lock pro...holds 610lb.ft., engages smoothly, holds like a mother, and wont break your 10 bolt as easy as a street twin. about 550 shipped. i don't think specs are worth the risk

if you are going with the spec clutches skip the 3 and go with the 4 right away, i had the 3 for maybe 5-10k miles and maybe 30 passes on it when i granaded 5 out of 6 springs with around 350rwhp and bfg drag radials. The 4 drives damn near the same as the 3 does, maybe even smoother, i drive the car daily in the summer with the spec 4 and cc306 with no problems, even in traffic.

im not quite to 400 at the wheels, but i have the spec stg 2+...i guess i would recommend it. If youve got the money, street twin all the way.

This is the first time I have heard of someone having a problem with a Spec clutch. I wonder if you might have had an oddball defective one? I know of many people with a 3 or 3i (03 Cobras and F-bodies) and no problems yet.
As for a stage 4 I wouldn't see any problems with that one if it drives just like a 3. I was looking more at cost vs. power more than anything. Then again who stays at their current power levels for very long .

Seriously? I've seen dozens of gripes on this board about the Spec Stage 4. Enough that I won't even consider a Spec clutch -- I'm going straight to McLeod.

I've never heard a gripe about the IV, only the III. Can you point out some people unhappy with the IV?

I'd have to search -- you could do so as easily as I could. I remember seeing something about it in the last two weeks.

All that I am trying to say is all of the complaints I have heard about SPEC come from the clutches with the sprung hubs, stage III or less. I am one of many stage IV owners very happy with the clutch and no drivability problems.
