4000 or 4400 stall?????

Ok here's the deal I currently have a Vigilante 3200 stall converter, but I wanna go bigger. My current mods are LT's,1.6rr's, 227/233 112lsa cam, 30# injectors,3.23 gears( which are being upgraded to 3.73 at the same time as the converter) and a few suspension goodies. Im on a stock 10 bolt( yeah I know it wont last ) but I consistently cut 1.8x's 60' with et streets.
Now Im going with an Edge Converter and I can get whatever stall I want. So since Im going with a 4000 stall is a 4400 to big for my car at its current stage. Im gonna eventually get some heads later this year to go with the cam but for now this is all I got.
Oh yeah I've ran a 8.2 @ 88.9 mph in the 1/8 with that setup above.

You're probably going to have shifting issues with that stall. I would go with some 3.73s or 4.10s instead.

Sorry forgot to add I have a pcm4less tune set to my current setup and when I get the new converter in I'll be getting another tune to current the shift points.

It's not the shift points, but the high stall issue. With that big of a stall, you're almost guaranteed to have it.

It won't shift from 1st to 2nd at WOT with good traction.

Re: 4000 or 4400 stall?????

Are you referring to the "stall wall" commonly found in ob1 LT1's with a higher stall. If so I had that problem with my 3200 and had it fixed with another tune by pcm4less.

Re: 4000 or 4400 stall?????

Ok looking at my dyno chart my peak torque is right at 4000 rpm which 333 ft./lbs. So I think the 4000 would be the best fit for my car right now.

Re: 4000 or 4400 stall?????

i would not go higher than 3800 with the cam you have and the gear ratio you have would not be enough, most cams from 230-244 require a stall speed of 3500 w/4.10-4.56 gear.if it was me i would get more gear first the stall you have now is sufficient...............

Yet again I get to read posts like this that don't make sense. A 4.56 gear would KILL him at the 1/4 mile track since he'd be hitting OD at about the 1000ft mark. Gear selection should be made based on tire height and mph in the 1/4 mile, you want to cross traps at the top of your 1:1 gear for an ideal setup.

Also, don't forget to consider the different STR's of a particular stall.
