Re: 4 channel rear

The 4 channel rear is the traction control rear. It has 2 reluctor rings. One on each side on the axles.

The other one is a 3 channel rear and is used in abs only cars. It has one reluctor ring on the differential.

Re: 4 channel rear

from your description, can I assume my 01 Z-28 with the traction switch on the dash is a four channel system? Thanks.

Re: 4 channel rear

The reluctor rings are just rings with teeth on them. The spin in close proximity to the sensors providing speed information to the abs and traction control computers.

If you want to retain abs or traction control you need them.

Re: 4 channel rear

If you get a 93-02 F-body rear they will be there already. If you have abs only make sure you get a rear from an abs only car. If you have traction control get a rear from a traction control car. If you have traction control it may be possible to use an abs only rear if you swap brake backing plates and axles. I'm not sure.

If you mean an aftermarket rear you need to talk to the company selling it.

Re: 4 channel rear

If you have traction control you don't need to do anything. If abs only I would get a new one.
