4.30 or 4.10 for an M6 car with 17x40x275?

well what are your conditions? daily driver? track machine?
4.10, ar emy vote. 4.30 will be VERY annoying driving on the highway, 1st gear is already cut down in the 4.10's, let alone the Traction issues...

2300 @ 70mph in a 6speed car with 4.10s?
Don't you have the .5 6th gear?
I thought it should be 1940 @ 70mph with 4.10 on .5 6th gear with 17x40x275 and 2034 with 4.30s?
Anyone know if there is a different 6th gear between the 1995 Z28 T56 and the 1997 TA T56?

Mine with 4.10s is right around 1900 RPM at 70 MPH. (this is based on datalogs, not the tach)
Re: 4.30 or 4.10 for an M6 car with 17x40x275?
1900 @ 70 is close enough to 1940 @ 70 to makeup for differences in tires and all that.. it was just kind of scary to hear 2300! I guess that guy's tach must be off?

Ion is right, the tach is not 100% accurate, but the needle is a little above 2k when im @ 70 in 6th
but anyway, i found what i was trying to post eariler...

Well 4-500 rpm gain in 6th at 70 isn't a problem for me... what I'm really wondering about is your 1st gear experiences... How is it driving around town? Is first even usable? How about traction? Also, did gas mileage change much?
Results from 4.10 would be cool, and it'd be really awesome if anyone's used 4.30 before..

First gear isn't too bad. Traction isn't bad either, but I run road racing tires (Nitto 555-RII. Very much like the drag radial)
In town, I usually skip from 1st to 3rd or to 4th. I have mine tuned so that it drives nice in 5th from ~30 MPH or so and 6th from ~40, so I use those gears a lot.

Gas mileage really didnt change that much, MAYBE 1-2 Mpg... 1st gear is useable in town, Very fun when you want to just LAUNCH... but tractial is an issue, i have Pirelli P-ZeroNero M+S tires, and i can break them loose anytime i want in first with the 4.10's. but they grip VERY well in all of the other gears.
onthe highway is the biggest change you will notice, 5th and 6th especially are very nice, pickup in 6th is improved a lot, and 4th will be ridiculous... haha

By first to 3rd or fourth do you mean you don't use first or second, or you use first and then shift to third or fourth?
Do you know how the Nittos compare to the Yokohama AVS-ES-100?
I'm looking for a good sticky tire for limerock/the strip but that is still good on the street, and where I won't crash into a tree if it rains.

I start out in 1st, then shift to 3rd or 4th.
The car is not a daily driver so traction in wet conditions is not an issue. (because I don't drive it then
)
Pirelli P-Zero Nero M+S are nice tires. I have them on my daily driver.
No experience with Yokohamas, sorry.
