4.11's in an Auto!!!

Anyone doing it? I bought a rear end that was supposed to have 3.73's, but I took the cover off today and counted the gears and I guess I have 4.11's. Will that be too much for an auto? I'm running pretty much a bolt on with a 2800 stall this year and next year I should have about 650rwhp with a procharged 383.

Also what will the 2800 stall, 4.11 gears and 315 DR's do for my 60ft time? The best I could do with 3.23's, a slipping tranny, and 315 DR's was around a 2.0.

4.11s are not street friendly in an auto car as far as cruising the xway goes because the rpms are quite high. For city driving they work just fine.
4.11s will be way too much gear for 650hp at the track unless you plan on turning 8000rpms going thru the traps.

Well I only have a 1/8th mile track locally so that won't be a problem. But I know I will have difficulty hooking up with the new motor next year. I guess I'll just have to suck it up and do a gear change. What gears would be optimal for next year?

4.11's will not be too much gear since you have such a tall tire. I run stock 25.5" tall tires on the street and with the converter locked at 65 mph the engine turns 2600 RPM. Not excessive at all. At the track I run 26 X 11.50 slicks with a 3800 converter and have cut a 1.72 60'. I am topped out at 5900 RPM through the traps. With your tall tire you will have plenty of room left. 3.73's will be leaving some performance untapped. Think about a higher stall converter as well.

Well, Vigilant said that my 2800 stall will probably stall around 3200-3400 with the power level I will be making next year. And I also expect to come into boost pretty soon with my motor/supercharger combo so I went with a milder stall that will be a little more streetable.
