3200 stall??
3200 stall??
Because we have an A/t we were told we should get a stall converter. My speed shop says a 3200 stall would be good. What is the advantage on a car which is driven for pleasure to cruise nights ,local car shows and taken to the drags 2-3 times per year (test and tune)? We also take it on vacation sometimes so it needs to be totally driveable, current mods are in the signature. Thanks
I also have a 3200 Vigilante converter, and it's primarily a street car. It took a little getting used to at first, because there's less coupling at low rpms, but it's not bad at all, and now that I'm used to it I don't even notice.
Yes i have a Vig 3200 and im about to make a post about it so you might want to check it out here after you see this. Yank and the Vigilante are the 2 most popular brands for our cars. If you do get a stall converter like a 3200, it will take some getting used to. Mine is a bit smaller than the factory. Its a 9.5" MAKE SURE YOU GET A BIG TRANSMISSION COOLER. Thats very important. Also a tranny temp gauge would be a good piece of insurance for your investment. Your trans should be around the same temp as your engine. If its higher, lay off for a bit.

Yeah, I'd still get one. I have the top one on here (59-70264):

If you really want to wake that car up, add some 3.73 gears with that converter. Or better yet, get a 3200 or 3600 with those mentioned gears. You have some good HP, put it to use. You will of coarse need better tires with any decent converter, gears or not. And yes, get the cooler mentioned, thats the one I have too.

Get an Auxilary cooler for the tranny, they actually work, no BS, i know a guy that has done nothing but tranny work for 30+ years, the best results are with Hayden, man, i am planning on getting one.
