3.73 Gears with Stock Rear End

I am on my quest to figure out exactly what I want for my car

I would really like to get 3.73 gears in my 96z A4. Everything is stock atm (shortly will change )

My question is if I get 3.73 gears, will I run the risk of blowing my transmission or causing serious injury to my car, if I just have the stock back end?
I wont be taking this to the strip or launching (would like to launch but understand I need a beefier back end like a 12 bolt)

it really depends on the amount of hp on your car.... if you have a stock car or pretty much stock then you should be fine...as soon as your put a converter and stick tires on it then it will go snap! it may even go soon it is a real luck of the draw kind of thing... everything else is fine if you put 3.73 geras on there

I am planning:
Roller Rockers
CAI (is on the way)
Headers

Nothing else at least for 3-6 months.

If i do decide to build the back in, its a few thousand correct?

You should be fine, A4's preload the rear end so there isnt as much shock to it as a M6 puts out. There have been a few stock rears in the 10's.
