2500HD Rear end

i was working and i went to our new 05 2005 HD truck and i was wondering how much bigger are the rear ends in then VS. the ones on our cars? could it be a direct replacement? i counted the bolts on it and it had 14.... could it possibly be stronger?

Re: 2500HD Rear end

I think it's an 11" rear end. Basically, I doubt the extra strength would ever be needed, or at the least would not justify the extra weight and major modifications that would likely be required to make it fit.

huh, is there any like 12 bolts or like less than 9" rear ends that are a direct bolt on from a chevy vehicle?

Not directly into a camaro. Not that I know of. You can mod a ford 8.8 which is smaller and easier to find, but it's a little more modification and you might as well just get a 9" IMHO.

Hey, I read that post too! Another reason I didn't want a 9" is I sure do like my ABS. I'm running 3-channel ABS.

To date, my 8.8" is doing great.
