2.73 to 3.73 on '93 - reprogram?

I am planning on getting some 3.73's installed in place of the 2.73's. I see posts about having to reprogram for shift points, but what are my options for a '93? I'm assuming a pcmforless chip would be in order. For those that have done this, did this resolve any issues?

93's have a 700R4 which are not electronically controlled. In 94 they got 4L60Es which are. Do you need a tune to adjust shift points in a non computer controlled tranny? I think you would need a chip to get your speedo correct, but I am not so sure about the shift points...

Reprogramming is not needed for a '93.... But if you want the correct speed, the speedometer gear in the transmission would have to be changed....

I dont remember what color gear is used...
