2.73 to 3.42 or 3.73
on a A4, i know most ppl go to 3.73, which was what i intended to do but as of late was advised to go with 3.42? the cars a 95 Lt1 a4, built trans w/3000stall, installing a 383 forged stroker, custom isky cam, and plan to squeeze, not immediately but soon after install.
are the 3.42 better for a stroker?

The taller gear will slightly reduce your real rwtq which in theory could help the car hook up better by not overpowering the tires, OR it could end up that when your tires do break loose you just have more wheelspin speed. Stickier tires is a better solution to this 'problem'.
Usually people do 3.42s by swapping the whole rear out of an M6 car. These can be had cheap from someone who upgraded to a 12 bolt or something. Hopefully they upgraded preemptively. The stock GM gears seem to be as strong as any, and you don't have to worry about whine.
In your case, your considering N2O and you may run out of gear in the 1/4 mile if you aren't turning the motor to a high enough RPM. You really should be considering your tire size, peak power (on and off juice), max RPM (redline), and car weight. OR just post your anticipated trap speeds instead of power and weight.
Post that additional info and i'm sure some people will be willing to attempt to steer you int he right direction.
