1995 z28 Steering Column

Hey guys I'm a newbie here restoring my wife's 95 z28 convertible. One of the problems I have is with the tilt steering. Even when it's locked in you can pivit it slightly down and to the left. It especially is noticable under hard accelloration. I tore down the steering column & notice some of the following. The top torx screw is stripped out ( I think I can tap it and put a slightly larger bolt in there) There are two threaded pins on either side of the column that are horizontally opposed from each other. It seems like there should be some taper headed screws in there, because that's exactly where the "play" is. I thought I'd post some pictures to see if any of you guys know if there's supposed to be screws in these holes. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Those pins are what keeps the tilt housing seated. You need a special puller to pull them out.

There are four torx head bolts that come loose and cause your problem. You haven't gotten to them yet. This link will give you an idea what you need to do. http://www.buickperformance.com/tilt...lumnwobble.htm

Thanks for the link, I think I see what your talking about now. I guess all I have left to do is remove the pivot spring & pins & should be good to go from there. I think I'll give it a whirl this evening.
