Since my first gear is a 3:30, what would be a better gear for the rear end. My neighbor has a 3:73 that I could get but I think that this would be too much for the street. Would 3:42 be better just for street use? Keith

 

I had the same tranny with the same rear end 93 Z 2:73 rear. Dont waist your time with the 3:42's i put those on and immediatly regreted it. It will make a difference but for the tranny you would need atleast 3:73's and your 1st and 2nd gear will be just about right but really wide on the other gears or you can do 4:10's and youll have a really short 1st and 2nd and your other gears will still be a bit wide but better. Beware with your tranny it will be very very hard to get any type of traction in 1st and 2nd gear when you do those gears i had to launch mine in 2nd gear N/A to get traction with 4:10's and even then would spin. With 3:42's i got rid of after a month horrible with that tranny.

I'd go with 3.73 honestly...

 

Just an FYI. You should use a decimal instead of a colon ex. 3.73 instead of 3:73.

The colon is used when you write the ratio as in 3.73:1.

As for the gear, how would a 3.90 fit the bill?
