How do these handle on the street?

 

They don't....Not to be used on the street....it will wear you axles out
and it will easilt slide off the road. If your going to use it on the street get a locker

 

Point me in the right direction, I've just started researching rear ends. You mean like a Detroit locker?

 

yeah....I'm not a fan of a limited slip but they will work fine also....
a spool is not a wise move tho, not on the street

Detroit lockers are about as strong as you can get before you go to a spool

 

Do a search, has been fairly extensively discussed. My answer: anything other than very limited low speed cruising, fugedabout a spool on the street.

This is what I am trying to explain to a friend of mine. He has an open diff in an old 80's VW and wants to weld the spider gears together (which won't last long in he first place) in order for it to act like a spool. This is his daily driver car also, rain, sleet, snow or shine.

 

I am ordering my S60 with a spool and I plan on driving about 3 to 5 thousand miles a year on the street.
