Re: 10 bolt check... hows everyones rear holding up?

My 8.5" 10 bolt (which is supposed to be stronger) spun the center section on the axle tubes about a week ago. Stock lt1 m6 combo in a 81 ta with a spec 2, slidelinks and hossier quick time pros. The driveshaft ripped right out of the straps and the pinion yoke was hitting the floor. My moser 9" housing just came in today.

my 10 bolt lasted about 6 months worth of driving after i installed a street twin it craped out on me yesterday while I was on my way to the track with the drag radials on. I broke 2 teeth of of the pinion gear.

Anyone ever try a cyrogenic (or whatever the hell its called) hardening process, or any other process for that matter, for grins and giggles?

Re: 10 bolt check... hows everyones rear holding up?

yeah ive got 800 miles with my 520 rwhp setup, still holding up fine. I think its all in the tires and power, i have kumho tires, so those will spin before it breaks anything

Re: 10 bolt check... hows everyones rear holding up?

My stock one had 3.73s put in at 50k.
It now has 163k on it and I have gone 1.8 sixty foots at the track. Thats not really pushing it I know but its seen plenty of street abuse and still seems to be fine.
