1-2 shift getting soft

my 1-2 shift used to be very quick and would chirp the tires, but lately it seems like its kind of gliding into it and its not rough at all. I dont' feel it slipping (like if i get on it in 2nd the car goes) it just doen't shift very solid. whats going on? could i be low on fluid? The problems i've had before were the 3-4 clutches going out, but now its the 2nd gear thats giving me trouble

Actually, i think most of it was a problem with the linkage not being adjusted right (pulling a little too far). fixed that, and i was about a quart low on fluid (guess i lost some when i put in the new radiator). Its greatly improved. not as hard as i'd like it to be but its getting there. gonna run it for a while and try to add a bit more and see what's goin on. And on another note, we should race, it would be real close

Same deal here. I put in a transgo shift kit, and it shifted so hard I thought my car was goingt o fall apart. Now it doesn't shift as hard, but still chirps the tires barly. I don't get it. Its been softer for about 15k miles now.

Re: 1-2 shift getting soft

bah. i don't know what's going on. When its warmed up it seems to shift fairly hard, but when its cold it slips like it's not going into gear at all. I know when this happens to 3-4 its the 3-4 clutch pack, but what would cause second gear to slip? (1,3,4 are fine, although going into 4 is a bit soft but it's always been). so... anyone know what's wrong?
