$ 950.00 to rebuilt tranny ,is it a good price?

$ 950.00 to rebuilt tranny ,is it a good price?

i been to dif places, and the cheapest one they are asking 950 bucks to rebuilt my transmision, its a 1994 trans am v8 5.7L

3rd and 4rth are gone, so im chaging all the parts and putting new ones, they are asking 950 for that job,u guys think is a good price?

Dude, I'm gonna have to do the same thing with my '95 Z28. For $950 I'd jump on that **** quick.

That sounds fairly reasonable if it includes labor. Still a bit high but I don't think thats a bend me over price.

yes labor is included, hes gona put all the stuff brand new in there, he saw my engine and told me, someone had already work in it, and p had put new cam or something, how coudl he tell, all he did was look at it and hear it on idlee, whats aloop sound? he told me something about loop sound cam stuff, god knows , i dont know about this stuff, i just got this car a 3 months ago.

if you got a lope in the idle, the hot cam lifts higher than a stock cam and the idle jumps for a instant. Could also be your timing though, but then again lt1's you can't adjust the timing.

whats a hotcam? the sound is not smooth is kind of jumps, sounds like a old, muscle car, thats what i think it sounds like.

$950 is a very good price. Mine was $1200 to have rebuilt. I loved it when it was rebuilt though.

make sure this guy knows what he's doing, I have had several trans rebuilt ranging from 750 to 1200 bucks and they all broke, after the rebuild, I had a stout engine with them, but they said thy could make it last, even under warranty sucks cause its a pain to keep going back. Never, and I mean never will I have a shop rebuild another, I'd rather spend the extra money and have a company that knows what they're doing like Art Carr. These transmissions are so weak, they need good parts. So make sure this guy can do it right the first time.

I was quoted $1400 up here in CT, looks like I'll just shelf it for now and find a used '94 4L60E. Trannys do not like heat!
