You should run 13`s with headers and such as long as the altitude is not too bad

My buddy ran 13.75 with a bone-stock '97 Z28 M6. LT1's can do it with good conditions/driver .

When you step back and think about it, it's kind of funny how people will resist safety items like a helmet, etc., when the thing you're talking about is your personal safety / life!!

Unless you rarely plan to go to the track (like, almost never?) and/or never plan to further mod your car beyond the level it's currently at, then I can see that justifying buying a new helmet may be tough. Otherwise, for a ~couple hundred dollar investment NOW, you can protect your melon for another ~10 years!!

Trust me, if/when **** goes wrong, you'll appreciate being protected!!

the only reason i've never bought a helmet is because I never have enough $$ to just toss at a helmet. do you think they would allow an ice hockey helmet if it had a snell sticker on it? haha... i just wanna wear that so i get my picture taken with it on and everyone laughs at my broke ***.

You don't have money for a safety item, but you found enough for "Pacesetter LT's - Moroso CAI - 3.73's - 12.97@106"?

If your car is really a 12.9xx car, you're a full second into the "helmet class" (13.99 and faster). Buy a freakin' helmet!! Again, once you have it (buy a Snell 2005) it's good until the year 2016!!! The actual cost per year is pretty cheap .

I was at Pep Boys the other day and some some helmets for like $100, will those be allowed at the track?

They seemed to be pretty good.

Bring a helmet.

Tucson doesn't have a 1/4 mile track that I know of.

Firebird is closest and they are ****. They probably won't let you pass tech without one. They will also kick you out pretty quick most nights.

By the way, Firebird is 1,243 ft above sea level.

We have SIR in Tucson, it's a quarter mile.

I guess it would be a better investment to me if I went to the track more often, but I just really didn't want to spend money on something i'm going to use like once or twice a season. Sure, it doesn't justify my sheer ignorance of the issue of safety when i'm traveling over 100 mph in a relatively short amount of time. No one at Gateway International Raceway has stopped me, or even told me I had to wear a helmet.
