widest 28-29 inch tire??
widest 28-29 inch tire??
What is the widest 28-29 inch tire you can run in a 4th gen with a 15x10. i don't mind cutting stuff out of the inner well or whacking with a hammer. either ET drag or ET street
Well that sucks. I am going to buy new tires on friday and i don't want to have to spend more than 4 hours trying to make them fit. Could you clue me in on some of the stuff that has to be smashed or cut off. i am most likely going a little bit shorter of a tire than you but it would still be nice to have a place to start.
I have 30" tires on my '96 Z28. IMHO, to do it right you'll need to trim the front of the wheel opening back at least an inch, that requires paint/body work.
It will take considerably more than 4 hours to do it right.
28" tires will be your best bet. Here's a couple pics: http://turbocharged.net/twinturbo/re...03/cage-tires/

It's not a lot of work to fit a 28 x 10.5 x 15 or it's DOT equivalent on a 4th gen.
I am running a 28x10.5x15 Hoosier slick on the back of my 98 Formula.
I am contemplating a move to 29x10.0x15 Hoosier slicks but I may have to do a lot of clearancing I will decide once I dyno the car.
How much gear you going to run, and what traps you run?
With a 28 and a 4.10 and T400 I am looking at being able to do 7000 rpms.

the reason i am looking at a 29inch tire is because i am hitting the rev limiter 20-30 feet prior to the traps at 118mph at 5850 rpm. i run a th350 with a 3.23 gear and 28inch tire. the converter is realy loose i think that is what is causing the problem so i am just looking for a fix for the rest of the year. then i will get a better converter and step back down to a 28 inch tire or a bit more gear. the converter is supposed to be a 3600 but if i pull up the e-brake and hold down on the foot brake, it will hit 4100-4200. i only did this because i suspected the converter was loose.
acctualy, yes. stock everything that thouches oil. I am hoping to get enough money to start on the top end this winter along with a new trans and converter set up. Will i loose anything going from a th350 to a th400?
