Who knows MOSER 12 Bolts?

Is it normal for a 12 Bolt Moser rear to sing to me at 65 mph in 6th gear? It doesn't howl like one that is ruined. I only hear the noise when cruising in 4th or higher gear when not under hard acceleration. I'm wondering if maybe I should take it in and get it re-shimmed to like .006 on the pinion angle. I bought the car with the new 12 bolt already in it. Any ideas, Fred

At very particular speeds mine makes a very strong whine. It has done it for two years. Something about vibrations and harmonics I think.

Mine whines slightly, but nothing annoying. Usually can't hear it over the exhaust anyway; mostly notice it during deceleration. My perfectly working stock 10 bolt was louder. I'm sure some different shims would probably solve the problem.

Yea mine is noisy. I was told that they are set up tight to be stronger for drag racing. Tighter = noise.

Mine does it the most on deceleration.

Hey, have any of you guys experienced a high pitched squeel noise when making turns? Mine makes this noise when making left turns only. It is really weird.
Thanks,
Ed

That could be one of the pressed on axle bearings.

That was one thing I had to replace on mine. My Moser came w/ sealed axle bearings. Well, one of them decided to start leaking (don't ask me how; I have no clue). So I pulled it, and replaced it w/ an open faced bearing (which is lubricated by the rear end's fluid). Took care of the leaking problem.

Thanks for the reply Joe. I could try reversing the axles and see if the problem is still there. The squeeling problem only happens occasionally, not all the time. The bearings are brand spankin new.
BTW, if I ever had to pull the bearing off the axle, how in the heck do you do this? Make a special tool or something.
