Took the car to the track today. Comparing my car to other stock LT1s it sucks. It's a 1993 with K&N FIPK kit, Automatic, 2.73 rear end. The filter is nice and clean. I use Mobil1 as Oil and K&N oil filter. I also use Mobil 93 Gas.
Car has 102,000 miles.

60 ft - 2.207
330 ft - 6.281
1/8 ET - 9.613
1/8 MPH - 74.60
1/4 ET - 14.814
1/4 MPH - 93.77

Wheels do not loose grip when I launch. Probably due to the 2.73

Sometimes I manage to hit 14.6 or 14.7 on the quarter mile and once I hit 14.5 when it was 63F outside. No consistancy as you can see.
I never managed to hit the 14.2 that everyone is talking about for stock LT1.

Any reason for the inconsistancy or the slow times I am seeing?

 

i don't think you'll ever see a 14.2 out of a stock auto LT1 with 2.73's. most A4 2.73 cars i've seen posted a best of 14.5. 14.8 would be about right, considering it has 102k miles. motor probably lost a few hp, and trans might be shifting slower than when new. not sure if thats your answer, but possibilities. most stock lt1 6 spds run right around 13.9-14.2. the stock auto number you are seeking (14.2) was probably run with a stock auto with 3.23's. unfortunately, u were handed the short end of the stick with 2.73's.

For reference my 95 Z28 w/92k miles is totally stock down to the paper air filter and exhaust manifolds, except for a Vig 2800- and I run the times below on street radials. I don't think the Vig 2800 really helped me any because I couldn't hook up to take advantage of the extra stall, and that's still with 2.73s.

My last run I removed the paper air filter just for the hell of it and ran a 14.19 @ 96.60, 2.08 sixty foot.

My times that night ranged from 14.2-14.6, depending on traction. But they all trapped at 95.xx mph.

A switch to 3.73s should wake these cars up...I'm gonna do that next because my trans would shift into 3rd about 50 feet before crossing the finish line.

 

My beater is the 93 in my sig. It came with 3.23's and ran a 14.30 bone stock with a 2.02 60'. It went 14.02 with cai and 13.78 with that plus headers so I think with the 2.73's you're in the ballpark.

 

I ran 14.4-.5 @ 94-95 stock & 2.73 rear end. Went 14.0 with free mods. The 3.73 gear made it run 13.70s from there. It's a big difference and fun.

 

your 60' could see some improvement which would drop you to a mid 14 id say -


hell i wouldnt be too upset with that - my 97 with headers -intake - programming -and free mods with a 6 speed and nittos only pulling times in sig -

but my problem is traction -


work on your 60' i think u can pick up another 2/10's

 

I have a 93 Z28 too that is stock except for a flowmaster muffler and an underdrive pulley .It is an auto with 2.73's and stock tires and wheels . My best time to date is 13.81 @ 102.05 .the pulley and muffler made no difference in performance .

 

don't feel bad, when my car was stock... i ran 2.2 60' 9.6 1/8th at
73 MPH

with a REBUILT trans, 3000 converter, intake, headers, exhaust i ran

a 8.7 @ 83 mph w/ a 2.6 60' time ...... 1/4 time was 13.8 @103 w/ 2.6 60'

then the trans crapped again

when mine ran those crappy times, it felt as if nothing was wrong... then the trans crapped out ... fixed it, ran again 13.8 @ 103, then it crapped again

so now im finishing my t56 swap...

your times just don't sound right, i dont know if my increase was because of my tranny... or it just panned itself out

Well I have a 94 T/A with 116895 miles on it with 2.73 rear end. Every time I launched the new tires all ways break loose...in the 1st, with performance light on 1st and 2nd.

 

My buddy has run pretty consistantly around ~14.6 @ 96 mph with his '96 T/A, A4 w/2.73's. He switched to 3.73's and still ran the same, but I think he lost a lot of traction, 'cause another friend ran 13.9 - 14.0 @ 98 w/3.73's in his '95 Z28 A4. I have 2 other friends that both have '97 Z28 M6's, and one has run 13.775 @ 100, the other ran 14.0 @ 101.
