What kind of helmet do I need?

I need a helmet for Drag Racing at New England Dragway. They Say must be Snell 90 or newer. Motorcycle shop knows nothing about them. Where do I get the right helmet?

I happen to have a really cool metallic bluish/purplish Fulmer full face SNELL 2000 helmet that I'm selling. I only wore it about 5 times. I comes with a clear shiled and a blue mirrored shield. Everything is like brand new. When I bought my new Yamaha R1, I had planned on buying the blue model and bought the helmet first. Well ,I ended up buying the black and red model so I needed a different helmet. I paid almost $200 for everything and I'd sell it all for $125.

But then again, you may not want a blue helmet and I could be just blowing smoke up my @$$. Email me if you're interested.
By the way, this one would be 100% legal for drag racing.

Go to the motorcycle shop and look for an open face helmet. Look inside the liner for a Snell decal. It should say Snell M2000. That's all you'll need.

I found a Fulmer helmet I like at the Motorcycle shop, But it is a off road motorcycle helmet. Full face, but no shield open for gogles. It has SNELL 2000 on the back painted on. I need to call NED to see if this is OK. I need a helmet by Sat.

If it's a Snell rated helmet then it's ok. The exterior decal/paint isn't what tech checks. It must have and will always have, the decal inside the helmet. It's usually on the side under the liner stuck to the styrophone. That's what they'll check for.

Tech can't refuse the M2000 helmet just because it's an offroad motorcycle helmet. All they should be looking for is the Snell rating. A Karting helmet K98 is also accepted.

For more information on the snell ratings you can go to www.smf.org
