Track Test: ET Street Radials
Track Test: ET Street Radials
Being the test dummy that I am I wanted to try the MT ET Radials in the 255 50 R16s that fit on the 16x8 stockers for that "sleeper" look. I went the Capitol Raceway last night in Crofton, MD, and under less than ideal conditions...89 degress 75% humidity here's the 60's on 3 runs:
1.68, 1.65, 1.71...runs were 11.90s at 115ish
I highly recommend these things!! 17-20 psi, quick burnout and let them rip. My set up overpowers them a little so I can't slam it on the line, but they 60' pretty well for a small radial. They definitely hook better and more consistently than my BFG DRs. Surprised the heck out of a lot of trailered cars...

Re: Track Test: ET Street Radials
Give me your opinion on this. I have TTII's. 315's on the back, and i was thinking of going with some BFG's for her soon. What kind of 60 foots can i expect with this setup? What do you think of the Nitto's compared to the BFG's. Do you think it would be a better setup to put on the ET streets on the stock rims over my 17's?
Re: Track Test: ET Street Radials
As far as hooking goes I would rate the DRs from best to worst: ET Radials, BFG DRs, Nittos...
I went a best of 1.69s with my 275 40 R17 BFG DRs and a whole lot of 1.70s, but it was hard to do and not very consistent. Switching to the ET Street radials in the 16" seems to be the way to go. With the 16 you get more sidewall to "wrinkle" while still maintaining the stock look. I don't know your power level, but I would opt for the 255 50 16s in the ET Radial. They ride nice, too...

Re: Track Test: ET Street Radials
The widest and only DRs in a 16 are the 255 50 16s (roughly 26"x10"). I make 400rwhp and the MT ET Street Radials worked well for me last night. It took less finesse to get into the 1.60s than it did with the 17" BFG DRs The little bit more sidewall offered by the 16s makes a difference. The other option is to get a 15" wheel and use the 275 50 15s...This opens up another can of worms trying to fit a 15" wheel with the correct backspace without grinding calipers, or spending $$$ on Bogarts. The best bang for the buck would be the 16s on stockers. I see you are in Baltimore...I work down there...Jim's Racing Tires on the east side has 255 50 16 MT Radials for $159 and they had 2 left last week...If you go to Capitol at all I'm trying to go back the Friday after next for test and tune...

Re: Track Test: ET Street Radials
I was at Capitol last night. Unfortunately, it was 89 deg and 75% humidity when I was running. I was there at 5 and left at 8 before it got real cool. Stock wheels are 16x8.
TQdriven...The 11.76 was in '99 in November with air temps in th low 50s and no humidity with front skinnies, too...Its hard to compare the two right now as last night was my first outing with the new combo and first racing for me in a year. 60' on the 11.76 run was 1.69. I think with the same conditions as the best old combo pass its capable of 11.50s at 119. To optimize the combo I'll probably have to step up to 15x10s with a 275 ET Radial and skinnies so I can really nail it out of the hole, but there's somethng so cool in running 11s with big tires all around, with both sway bars in place, etc. I'm going back to Capitol in 2 weeks and we'll have a better comparison I think because of the weather. But, damn, those little ET Radials are neat...
