Stock 1/8th times

1996 trans am ram air A4 completely stock besides a k&n in the box and the addition of tires yesterday.Been to the track twice in the last two weeks, last time on 245/45/18 street rubber......last night i was on some 275/35/18 bfg drag radials and to my surprise they didnt help with S@#T!

The drag radials are just as easy to light up as the 245/45s!

best time last week-reaction-.705
60 ft- 2.161-street tires (runflats at that)
594 ft.- 8.700
1/8 et- 9.281
mph- 77.47

worst time last week-reaction-.731
60 ft.- 2.314
594 ft.-8.992
1/8 et-9.582
mph- 76.27

-----------------------------------

best time last night-reaction-.660
60 ft.-2.166-bfg drag radials
594 ft-8.697
1/8 et-9.277
mph-77.60

worst time last night-reaction-.711
60 ft.-2.375
594 ft.-9.163
1/8 et-9.762
mph-75.12

What the hell is wrong with this car? everyone says it should be faster than this and i have to agree i dont see too many lt1 cars in the 9 second zone at my track? ...........oh and i think ive broken something in the rear end of the car , i thought it was my drag radials popping but when i aired them back up my car still pops in the rear end if you take off hard......not good.

Re: Stock 1/8th times

sounds like a normal stock LT1 time to me. Mine ran 9.27s at 78 with a CAI and catback. My times were a little slow IMO so I got some tuning software and sure enough, I had knock spikes with a stock tune and 93octane. After some messing around, it ran much better and no knock. No times before/after for comparison since I added headers. BTW, what track were you at (elevation) and what was the weather?

Re: Stock 1/8th times

jackson dragway in jackson,tn....the weather was problably like 60 deg and dropped off and got cold after the first hour, i mean abnormally cold i could see my breath in front of my face cold lol.

i ordered a hypertech tuner (not that great i know) but i dont think im up for the lt1 edit or anything too complicated just yet.

oh yeah, what kills me is my 60ft times, on drag radials i couldnt do better than i was doing on the damn runflat street radials i was on a week beforehand! Yes the drag radials were brand new ,that could have something to do with this i guess.

Re: Stock 1/8th times

were u driving through the waterbox? how long was ur burnout? did u just stomp it, or roll into it?
i am going to assume u just floored it out of the hole. next time get about 10 ft out and lay into it. all the while slowly getting into it.
the weather u were in looks like good racing good conditions.

also, ur times are comparable to mine stock. personally i would try and sell or return the hypercrap and go with one of the board members here. madz28 or pcmforless. u will get more power for your money. and quite a bit cheaper.

i burnt out in the waterbox and out of it and a combination of the two and nothing seemed to work, honestly i have heard these tires dont hook so well when new and mine were NEW i mean i drove straight from the tire dealer to the dragway lol.

tried both

the weather u were in looks like good racing good conditions.

yeah the cooler weather was good for the engine but not so good for the drag radials or a full slick for that matter.

i dont think i will find a mail order tune cheaper than what i paid for the hypertech, and although im sure i would gain more overall power from the two above mentioned companies...i just need the hypertech for other things you can do with it (speedo correction etc.) but in the future i will be looking to them when get into real mods
