Spec Stage 4 longetivity...
Spec Stage 4 longetivity...
Is anyone running this clutch and getting a good life out of it? I've had a stage 4 ceramic disc in my car for about 5 months now.. Maybe have put a trouble free 6,000 miles on it. With only five trips to the track on slicks.. Probably 20 6k rpm launches running mid 1.5 60's...
I just finished dropping my tranny (in the process of a winter rebuild) and one of the roll pins is missing from the pressure plate. The clutch disk is all eaten up.. <- Like nothing I've ever seen before.. Half of each of the pads is still there - w/ the half looking like chipped charcoal ~ best description I can give..
I'm just really wondering if this kind of wear is to be expected with a setup as aggressive as this is? Or maybe it's my pressure plate missing the roll pin that caused it. I'm trying to figure out every scenario here... And the only thing I can come up with is that the roll pin holds the throwout bearing springs to the pressure plate - and at higher rpms it's not fully pressed against the disk since one is missing? But it never slipped.. Only the normal clutch chatter.
I'll be calling up SPEC on monday ~ was just wondering if anyone had any other similar experiences?
(PS - I posted this in the DR forum since this is a popular drag racing clutch)
