Thumbs up Southern Shootout in Louisiana, Nov. 2nd!

I just wanted to let everyone know about the Southern Shootout that will be held at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, Louisiana on November 2nd, 2002. www.thundershootout.com This will be the BEST heads-up, late-model f-body racing that you've ever seen! There are plenty of 9-second and 10-second cars scheduled to come as well. All of the classes, excluding brackets, will be true heads-up racing on a .500 pro tree. If you've never experienced heads-up racing before, then you're going to realize just how much of a blast it is! I've been registered in the street stock automatic class for three or four months now, and I'm still in the process of getting the car finished in time for this event. It will be THE f-body event of the year to attend! I hope to see you there!

I will be there for sure, watching. My car is too slow to race without a power adder. Anyone need any help on a pit crew or somethin?

I plan on being there too but will probably run the brackets b/c I saw a car at State Capitol Dragway Friday nite and I was thinking about runnig SSA. That car ran 11.35 on dragradials with only a cam and converter no headwork or poweradder So I will have to find a slower class I guess.

Don't let other people's times discourage you from the heads up racing...you can run both SS/A and brackets if you like. Remember, the fastest car doesn't always win.

Also, there's going to be some great racing Friday night also!

I hope to see everyone there!!

As Angie said, don't let the quicker cars discourage you from entering! The fastest car definitely doesn't always win. There are too many variables that can affect the race, especially when we're duking it out on drag radials in SS/A! You can win a race solely on reaction times if your opponent is sleeping, so go ahead and enter. Just the experience of heads-up racing with a bunch of other f-bodies is going to be a BLAST!

T/A lt1 - It sounds like you're talking about Mike Hoffpauir's car. He's currently my "main competitor" for SS/A, so I'm going to have to be on my toes! I've already swapped cams to yield another 9 RWHP across the board, and the transmission is being rebuilt as we speak. I'm running my practice tree like crazy, so I hope to be killer on the lights. Every little bit will help!

If you see a sunset orange metallic SS on Centerline Convo Pros, stop by and say hi! It's great to finally put a real face with all of these screen names.

I know what you guys are talking about b/c I am an avid dragracer but not too much in my car. I drive a 9sec. Impala and a 10sec street truck sometimes too. My car is my everyday streetcar and I am competetive so to run heads up with cars that will be almost a full second faster would not be too fun for me. I was goping to lighten my car up and run in the 12.00 range b/c I don't have a cage and my car weighs 3850lb as is. I would love to run heads up but it will probably have to wait until next year when I can be alot more competitive. Later Clint

Thumbs up

I'll be there tearing the brackets up.
I'll go out on a limb here with a prediction for the brackets... Final round pairing will be Frank95Z & myself.

Not

You think I'm towing all the way from Oklahoma and not being in the final rounds.

Should have a blast see you there.

Both of you guys are wrong. I might run my '02 GMC 2500HD in brackets, too, so you'll both be in trouble.

My 98 TA A4 is a slow dog but it is consistent. I'll be trailering it from Michigan to run brackets. It will be worth the drive just to spectate and maybe I can go a few rounds.

Only 4 more days!! Team Rigged & Jimmied will be representin' down south this weekend.

As for the car hauler race, I'd like to throw my '02 Ram in. It's a quad cab with a "sissy" V8.

Hey Brady, did you get a call from Mr. McIlvaine today? I figured you would have a few more stories to tell than me from Power Tour.
