Some serious traction help needed

i have an 87 IROC-Z w/ a 350 and automatic. its not a posi rearend and not sure what the gear size is.

problem~car will spin all day from a dead stop, and will break traction when floored from about a 25 mph or so roll. yea,its cool and stuff, but when i want it to go,i want it to GO! u know, not roast the damn tires all day. it even spins at the track. it ran a 9.95@71 (letting off the gas to catch traction, and then back on again) in the 1/8 mile (i blew the head gasket that time also) and thats so slow b/c i cant nail it at all off the line.

solutions~? what can i do to help this problem w/o getting slicks. the tires i have now are 245-50-ZR16 BFGoodrich KDWS's. is there somethin i can do to the suspension or torque arm or anything to help it hook up? i would very much appreciate any help on this problem.

1st off get some real tires..the KD series is nice to turn..Get some drag radials and you should hook fine.street radials will go up in a blaze no matter how much stuff you toss on the suspension

You said it's not a posi? Well I dont know how that could have happened, but that's the first thing you should get. You can get one for around 100 bucks. The best tires in the world won't help you as much as a posi will.

Yes you can make an Open rear hook. I had an 85 with 3.08 gears and an open rear. Dont remember the 60ft times but it would dead hook and run 13.85 in the 1/4. It had 275 60 15 BFG radial TA, Air bag in the pass. rear, no front sway bar and wore out front struts. It wasnt really my car, it was Video Chics Car

You need a posi. Call http://www.ring-pinion.com/ . It's "Randy's Ring and Pinion" and they know rear ends.
