Raytech Solid Pinion Spacer?
Raytech Solid Pinion Spacer?
I plan on installing some Nitto dr's and to help my crappy rear-end hold up, I bought a MAC rear girdle. I also heard that the Raytech Solid Pinion spacer helps alot by preventing the pinion from moving around. Has anyone done this, heard of it, or know ANYTHING about it?
I have about 360rwhp in m6 LT1 w/heads, cam and LT's etc. Do you think my rear will hold with the install of the Nitto's?
Thanks
Andy

They work fine. I have the stock rear end with TA girdle, Auburn pro posi and Ratec solid crush sleeves wih ET streets. Would you believe a drivers side tire up about 3 inches and a 1.59 60 foot leaving on spray?
I used one when I still used a 10 bolt. It replaces the crush sleeve.
The crush sleeve is just that. A crush sleeve. It's designed to crush as bearing preload is applied to the pinion bearings. Under high HP, a ring gear wants to go out the back end of the diff. That's why you use a rear cover with bearing cap supports. As the pinion is trying to climb the ring gear, it's also forcing it's way forward away from the ring gear. If the amount of torque is great enough, it can compress the crush sleeve even more which will change the pinion bearing perload. The solid spacer can't be crushed.
The solid spacer comes with shims to allow you to adjust the bearing preload.
