Thumbs up Ran Another New Best Today...

This is getting pretty exciting...... I installed a Vig 3200. My best before the Stall was 12.87 @ 106.75 1.81 60' about 2 weeks ago. Today I ran a 12.53 @ 109.14 on a 1.72 60'. Not Bad for a Hot Cam & untouched heads... I am very pleased. A lot of people say you lose MPH when you get a stall. Well I was thinking a High sall would help me get more MPH with my set up. I was right. Gained so far 3 MPH.... It seems to work great with the Hot Cam. Also no problems with the OBD1 & High stall that a lot of people seem to encounter..... Just thought I'd share..

Thumbs up

Nice times I think with a little better 60' you could def. go 12.3's. How is the weather there also. Times should get better for ya the cooler it gets.

Good deal, glad to see you don't have the shifting problems. I'm glad Bryan from PCMFORLESS got mine figured out. With the stall it puts you in the powerband quicker. Being in the powerband your MPH should increase.

The HotCam's for some reason really like the stalls.

It seems your car is running real good. I wouldn't at all be suprised to see some 12.4's real soon. 109+ mph and a 1.6 60' and you will definately see sub 12.5's. Congrat's,
Fred

Smokin 94Z,

Did you run these times at Byron or Joliet?? If you ran the times at Byron, did you run in the left lane or the right lane?? Heres a little hint for ya, never run in the right lane as the timers are screwed up at the end. I know this from a friend of mine who races all the time up there. So when you run, try and get into the left lane if at all possible. Are you going up this next weekend?? I will be there with my TA on sat for test and tune. I think it will be my last time of the year as my DR's have about no life left on them(they have been slicks for several outings now!!). Well talk to you later.

These runs were at GLD in Wisconsin.. Last week when I was at Byron I only ran in the left lane. Those times sucked anyway.... I don't think I will be there. I have to install my trans Cooler & some gauges & a few other things..... Good Luck though......

Hey our combos are very similar but I just think that you are low on torque somehow. I mean you dynoed 319tq. I dynoed 413tq N/A. I ran 12.51@107mph with a stock 3.23 gear in my car. That was a 1.75 60'. I have since put 3.42's and haven't been out in decent weather yet but still went 1.74 60' with a smaller 2800 vig. I am not trying to talk bad about your car but I just think something may need to be looked at is all. Have you checked for knock retard? Maybe it is just the way your engine runs but it has me curious. I am sure with a 3200 and a 3.73 gear my car would run 1.6 60's but I drive my car alot on the highway that is why I went with 3.42's. Just my .02

I was also curious why my TQ was so low when I dynod. 2 Days after the dyno my coil took a crap. That may have been a contributing factor. As far as my times I know for sure that my car will run 1.6 60' times as is now. That was the first time at the track & running on ET streets. I have to learn how to launch the car now with the converter. I truely believe the car now will run a 12.4 or even a 12.3. It feels strong. As far as Knock after I had none under revs or at Idle. Don't know for sure either if under racing conditions I have a Knock problem or not. Don't have anyway to record a run.. Thanks for the .02 I

Yeah I was thinking about it and I do have a little headwork which would make up some of the difference but I looked at Ken's post and he has stock heads and bottom end like you and he made 380rwtq which is what I think you should be making but dyno #'s don't mean that much. If you get that car into the 12.20 range with a 1.6 60' that would prove that you are making good torque. Keep at it and you could use freescan to log some runs with a laptop which I need to do also. I like the mph your car makes hopefully mine will run 108-109 next time out in better weather. Then I am shooting for 119-120mph on the gas. Later and Good luck

Just an added note. My HP & TQ #'s were before the converter & through cats. So next dyno I will probable see a increase in TQ.

1st off I congradulate you on your times!
2nd from what I have read the torque numbers will increase with a high stall converter because of the torque multiplication. I think that is why T/A lt1's torque numbers are so high and your's were lower, because you dynoed before the TC. Although I also think your torque numbers should be higher.
