race predictions

99 camaro ss
flowtech ceramic coated longtubes
flowtech ceramic coated ypipe
exhaust cutout
slp flowpac (k&n filter, slp lid, smooth bellows, slp CAI)

03 mustang cobra
intake
exhaust

Who do you think would win...I pretty much feel it is up to the better driver. Both on street tires btw.

It's going to take a poor driver in the cobra and a good driver in the SS. The SS prolly has 330-340ish rwhp and the cobra could have any where in the 380-400rwhp but it does weigh a little more but not enough for the HP diffrence......my .02

Yeah, you're probly right. They're both manual transmissions btw...But i'm thinkin the 99ss would have it up top with cold air induction running to open headers. Maybe a 3rd gear roll at like 70mph the SS would have a chance?

Stock 03 Cobras have 380-400 RWHP. With intake and exhaust it should be pushing 400+.

I'd say you have no chance at 70 mph. Ram air would have no advantage over the positive manifold pressure.

Your best bet would be to run some soft tires and take the Cobra off the line if you can.

Unless you are one of the lucky ones that has a factory freak that ran 12s stock.

positive manifold pressure? I'm confused. Are you talking about backpressure? because I thought that only helped down low torque.

This is how I look at it...

Camaro 300 rwhp
Flowpac (15hp)
Coated Longtubes/ offroad ypipe (25hp)
Cutout (10hp)
Free Ram Air
I think those numbers are fairly conservative
That puts it at about 350 rwhp and 3370 pounds

The Cobra with intake and exhaust at 400rwhp weighs
3870 pounds

Should be pretty even and come down to the driver...but maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Is that a confirmed stock 300 RWHP on your 99? I've seen some run 280-290's rwhp. Remember your car didn't come w/the LS6 intake.

You also can't get an accurate idea of output by just adding up advertised HP gain numbers....unless you are a ricer.
I've seen several cars with more mods than yours run lower than 350 rwhp. You're more realistically in the 330 rwhp range.

But since you did on your car I'll run it on the Cobra.

Lets start with 390 hp (split the difference since you did).
10 hp exhaust (conservative since a forced induction car would need more flow.)
Intake 10 hp. Once again conservative for the same reason.

Thats 410 rwhp and thats hoping that it isn't one of the 400+ hp stockers.

Once again its back to it would take a really bad Cobra driver vs a really good driver in the Camaro.

Definately keep us posted on this though. I'm curious of the outcome.

Unhappy

Go from a dig and hope the woman cant hook it. Put money on it too. I got a 50 spot on the Cobra. Sorry...Maybe it's just time for someone to man up and put an agressive cam in the Red Dragon.

Well, those hp adders I gave you are all well below the advertised numbers. I went to a few quarter mile calculators online (Not that they're accurate, but it should be consistent in comparing both cars.) And if you plug the numbers the results are always within a tenth of each other. Anyway, I'll keep you posted.

Took the restrictor plate off to give the Red Dragon some juice. But it ain't exactly street legal so keep it on the down low.

i've raced a few.... okay, 4-5 of em with slight mods on 2 of em.

modded, you better take some lube with you cuz your gonna be grabbing your ankles

from a roll, he'll kill ya. from a stop, you have a snow flakes chance in hell he gets wheel hop and you'll take em. if he does that just be sure and shut down before he really starts catching up to you *dirty trick*
