Some tracks will vary the ET breaks to adjust how many cars are in each class. The NHRA breakdown for ET bracket classes are

7.5 - 11.99 Super Pro
12.00 - 13.99 Pro
14.00 and slower Sportsman

Locally our Pro cars can run down to 10.50 and SPortsman can run as quick as 13.00.

Some tracks will let Pro run down to 7.50 with no electronics (throttle stops, delay boxes etc)

I run low 11's in Pro because I don't use electronics. I could just as easily say I'm a Super Pro car but since I only have a transbrake and a 2 step, I'm at a big disadvantage racing in that class.

There are many classes and many different names. IHRA and NHRA tracks have similiar classes for most bracket programs. You should call your local track and see where you fit in and have them send you their track rulebook so you can have the proper safety equipment.

At http://www.newenglanddragway.com the racers handbook (rulebook) is on line and it may be helpful for you to review. Generally the rules breaks for ET that happen at 13.99 in NHRA happen at 13.49 for IHRA, same with 11.99 and 11.49 breaks.

I run Street/Super and Modified/Heavy Eliminator categories.

I'm not 100% positive of the times associated with the classes at our track, but I'll give it my best shot...

Super Pro - 7.50 - 12.00 (electronics allowed - no deep staging)
Heavy - 10.00 - 13.00 (no electronics - deep staging allowed)
Street - 12.00 and up (no electronics, deep staging allowed and DOT tires required)

Like Ted said though - all tracks are different.

Cool AND USUALLY...

... At MOST all tracks/events the MIDDLE bracket has the largest car count.

Seen sumpin' funny I ain't never seen before... PONTIAC NATIONALS at Norwalk, middle bracket pays to the 16th, other two to the 1/8th only. Why? Last year they had over 400 cars in
the middle (pro) bracket. BEASTLY, just BEASTLY!

My friend went to the Super Chevy and raced there. He went 9 rounds to make it to the final and lose.

I don't think I could handle having to go 9 rounds to win an event. It's hard enough having to win 4 rounds.

It's at least 8 rounds to win Super Pro and Heavy at Atco - every dang Saturday. There are well over 100 racers in Super Pro for points and around 75 in Heavy. It's a tough crowd there!
