R/Ts

is .225 and less a freak reaction time or does that happen often. I went out to the track for the first time yesterday and i pulled consistent .225 and less r/t.

for me it's not, last time I went I pulled: .121, .094, .050, .057 in that order, the .121 was because my track just switched to the the .000 tree, and I was used to the .500

Sorry, but you won't win many races with those kind of rts. I generally try for .025's, but this last race I was really on and was cutting .005-.010 lights.

Footbraking, I consider anything .100 and slower to be way too slow. .050 and better is what you're after to win races.

Using the delay box anything slower than .020 won't win a race for me unless my opponent red lights or breaks out.

Reaction time has no effect or your ET when you're running test and tune passes but once you're into eliminations it means the difference between winning and losing.

.05 might get you by the first round at my track but after that you had better be planning.02's or better. I still think in terms of .550 or .520... This .0 stuff just doesn't sound right to me still.

We switched last year and I'm finally adjusting. I just look at it this way. Anything negative is a red light no matter if you use a pro or a full tree.

I think it was hard for the fans to understand the lights. A full tree get a .450 and it's red. A pro tree gets a .450 and it's green.

Trust me. Many spectators don't understand how a bracket race works. Even worse they don't understand throttle stop racing. Most just think the light goes green, it's a heads up race and the first to the end wins. You can't expect them all to understand the different christmas trees.

At least now with .000 being a perfect light, it looks like everyone is on an equal playing field.

I'd love to try some Pro tree lights this year. With the LED lights on the tree and the new delay box in the car you need to be real quick. At the first flash of yellow you go.

You guys have some quick R/T tracks, the fastest R/T of anyone I've raced this season is .444 , I don't do bracket racing so maybe that's why, I've only went once, so I'm still not used to the new tree.

Eh, I still like the .500 being perfect. My best is a .502, although I am generally in the .650 range... not too good, but I haven't bracket raced yet. I attempted to last year, but during the T&T I blew 7 teeth off the posi unit. I had a .498 redlight before

The change from .500 to .000 tree has nothing to do with the speed of the lights coming down.It was just a switch NHRA made to make the fan base understand the reaction times better. The LED bulbs fully light up quicker thus the rash of red lights in both prostock car and bike last year until they could make linkage adjustments to compensate.

That was my point. There was no change in the tree when they went from .500 to .000. It was just a change in the terminology. On a full tree there is still .500 seconds between each of the lights.
